PRECISION OPTICAL ASSEMBLER

HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION 

Assembler III

 

LightWorks High Volume Production (HVP) Facility, Vista, CA

 

LightWorks Optics expanded into its LightWorks HVP (high volume production) facility in Vista, CA, in March of 2008.  Applications are now being accepted for the following position.

 

SUMMARY: 

 

This position will possess prior experience in the precision optics industry involving the assembly of precision optical assemblies and subsystems which are used in space, defense, medical devices or other commercial applications.  Experience in opthalmics assembly will also be considered.  Will perform a variety of semi-complex assembly operations including cleaning, aligning and installing optical components in or for various optical-mechanical-electrical assemblies or subsystems.   Will work under moderate supervision.

 

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         Work from operation sheets, drawings and verbal instructions to perform diversified assembly operations on precision optical, mechanical and electronic components and assemblies.

·         Perform operations such as assembling, cleaning, bonding, fitting and inserting of optical and electronic components and assemblies into related mechanical hardware.

·         Use various measuring tools and instruments, e.g. indicators, micrometers, dial indicators, depth micrometer, etc. to test components for acceptability to operating requirements and specifications. 

·         Use cutters, tweezers and soldering equipment for electronic assembly operations.

·         Clean, handle and pack elements or assemblies without causing damage.

·         Maintain records of parts and components processed. 

·         Complete all required documentation.

·         Exhibit teamwork, including effective interface with customers and other team members.

·         Adherence to all safety requirements associated with assigned duties and work location.

·         Guide and train lower level employees (Assemblers II and III).

·         Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.

·         Perform other related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

 

·         Coordination and a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention is required for assembling, aligning and adjusting of optical assemblies and systems.

·         Ability to assemble, install and align optical, mechanical and electronic components to drawing specifications for a wide variety of optical assemblies and sub-systems.

·         Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and follow verbal instructions in order to accurately perform assembly operations.  Interpret the quality of finished work in accordance with quality control standards and/or drawing specifications.

·         Good attendance and ability to report for work during specified working hours. 

 

PREREQUISITIES:

·         Prior experience in the precision optics industry involving the assembly of precision optical assemblies and subsystems which are used in space, defense, medical devices or other commercial applications.  Experience in opthalmics will be considered. 

·         Understanding of the English language, with ability to read and interpret both written and verbal instructions, drawings and specifications and to complete all required documentation.

·         Typically a minimum of 3-5 years of prior related experience is required involving hand and eye coordinated skills is required in order to meet job requirements.

·         Due to technology protection requirements, all employees of LightWorks HVP must be U. S. Citizens or U. S. Permanent Residents.
